the thing about staying with three girls young ladies between the ages of 12 & 17 is that baking becomes an essential to my low-key sanity.

they request delicious baked goods from the likes of Magnolia Bakery’s cookbook on Thursday nights…

& they request Flapjacks from Williams Sonoma on Sunday mornings.

trust me, i’m not complaining (you see that Wolf oven, right?),

all the baking acts as a true test of my willpower-

& even more reason why the youngest tells me, besides the usual “you’re Khloe because of her attitude & Kourtney because of her looks,” that I’m their favorite babysitter.

holidays are typically for baking-

unless you’re in Mama J’s kitchen,

where every typical day seems like the perfect excuse for a new recipe-licious adventure.

you see,

for Mama’s birthday this year,

we gifted her with the Breville Mini-Pie maker (currently on sale!!!).

the salesperson at William Sonoma informed me that you could make pies of all sorts (duh!),

but you could also experiment with mini-quiche, mini-pizza, mini-pot pie, & “mini” other things.

this weekend,

we finally tested out a pie recipe…

mini-cherry pies w/homemade filling is what we chose.

smart choice.

they were delicious & only took 8-10 minutes to bake.

mmm mmm mmmmmm.

totally recommend this kitchen gadget,

i can only imagine what baking adventures we’ll run into next!

i have a friend who eats ants on a log almost every afternoon.

while i admire her dedication & love for crunchy celery,

i’ve always been more of an apple kind of girl

((mainly so i can ask, “how bout them apples?” in my greatest boston accent to any passer-byers)).

so, it’s no surprise that this little snack, spotted in the latest william sonoma catalog, is my jam,

& perhaps my newest addiction.

Hi! I'm Brooke. Indianapolis is my home & I welcome you to my little nook. I'm a twenty-something girl who was born in the land of corn (Okl.), attended undergrad in the true Sea of Red (Neb.), & eventually found her way back home again after picking up a couple letters behind her name (Kan.) while clinging to an adorable Maltipoo named Bentley. Thank you for stopping by & please feel free to leave a comment (or ask a question) under the "Be Kind" tab at the top... xo, B
