what am i sleeping in as of late?

a $19 Gilligan & O’Malley racerbank tank, of course.

i added this beauty to my virtual cart in order to score free shipping &

per usual, i returned everything else i intended to keep & ended up loving the one item i never thought i’d actually adore.

c’est la vie. it feels like heaven & i’m not mad at it.

daily outfit: the “day 3 of holiday week is for accents” edition.

i debated wearing red & green today & then opted for something more classic…black.

i mean, if you’re gonna wear a sparkly head band & a leopard-print belt,

black seems like the best option.

  • Kirna Zabete for Target dress
  • Gap long sleeve tee
  • Hue leggings
  • Frye boots
  • handband from Charming Charlie
  • Old Navy leopard belt

today, in little things that make a big difference: changing out the hardware on furniture.

when i was a sophomore in college, my parents surprised me with a new bedroom set.

it’s true.

i came home for a holiday break & there it was, a grown-up furniture collection for their favorite (& only) daughter- no more sleeping on a trundle bed!

fast forward a few years later & naturally, i drug that set out of their house when i moved to Kansas & subsequently planned on adding it to my [someday] home.

the only problem? it was really matchy matchy- aka not really my style.

enter: new hardware to make the pieces look less put together & more interesting?

after a trip to Hobby Lobby, an installation of some fancy silver knobs & pulls, a poor rating by yours truly, the unscrewing of said knobs & pulls, a trip to Target (that’s right, Target), the procuring of a more simple option, the re-installation of knobs & pulls, & a big smile across my face,

i’m totally satisfied with the up-grade.

for a minimal price spent, the eight-year-old furniture set got a [much-needed & Brooke-approved] face-lift!

yesterday, Elizabeth posted a picture of herself dressed in what is arguably a perfect go-to fall piece.

immediately, i loved it (of course i did, she’s got mad style!).

when i found out the adorable shift dress is available at Target,

i made lunch plans to check it out for myself.

of course, i loved it in person, too;

however, it was a little too short on yours truly,

so i opted for the next best thing from the Kirna Zabete for Target collection.

(check out that polka dot lining peeking out the bottom!)

today, seeing as it’s a cool & crisp sixty-some degrees otuside,

it seemed like the perfect excuse to give it a go!

i think i like love it.

daily outfit: the “good ole standbys” edition.

my grandmother’s hometown only has one restaurant, it’s charming.

charming for me equals wearing some of my favorite standbys.

standbys for me equal the following:

  • white lace Target tank
  • Gap seersucker skirt
  • Express jean jacket
  • Alex wedges by Stuart Weitzman

yesterday, a hunt for school supplies to be donated to Indianapolis Public Schools led to the obtaining of new make-up brushes by Sonia Kashuk.

they’re soft, sturdy, & pretty much what make-up application dreams are made of.

(i would totally recommend!)

this top is approximately $15 bucks from Target.
it’s supposed to be worn as a swim suit cover up (& you could very well wear it that way);
however, last week, i chose to wear it to yoga paired with leggings.
therefore, even if you don’t have a pool/beach nearby,
i’d suggest purchasing this neon-striped racerback anyway.
you’ll find a good reason to wear it, too!

this is the sad truth.

i set an alarm for 3:45, but the site was not up.
i set an alarm for 4:45, but the site was not up.
i set an alarm for 5:45, & was able to gather enough zig-zagged goods to spice up my fall wardrobe.

at 6:00 a.m., i realized i’d rather have a new pair of frye boots.

Hi! I'm Brooke. I live in the great city of Indianapolis & I welcome you to my little nook of the world. I have an immense adoration for the simple pleasures in life, for sporting events (Go Colts, Huskers & Cards!), for the arts, for mad beats & acoustic tunes, for fabulously frilly goods & for all things nerdtastic & academic. I'm just a twenty-something girl who was born in the land of corn & eventually found her way by picking up a couple letters behind her name, clinging to a Maltipoo named Bentley & by learning life lessons from some truly amazing people. Thank you for stopping by & please feel free to leave a comment (or ask a question) under the "Be Kind" tab at the top... xo, B
