& speaking of new shoes,

a tradition of sorts began 5 years ago when I first started working at the Nordstrom downtown Indy (RIP store 226).

in July, when the Anniversary sale came about,

I purchased my first pair of Frye boots.

a smart tradition to start fresh out of college when you’re on a limited budget? probably not.

a closet full of beautiful boots that will last me a lifetime? indeed.

i had no idea that each & every year Nordstrom would continue to include Frye in their annual sale,

but they have & they do,

& i’m clinging to it.

this year, i chose the Frye Veronica in a vintage brown.

i haven’t seen them in person, but they will be arriving at my doorstop tomorrow afternoon.

Happy Nordstrom Anniversary to me!

let’s talk shiny shoes, shall we?

last week, the lovely Georgina posted a picture of her beloved J.Crew crushed glitter sandals:

i, along with [presumably] many others, immediately fell in love with the simplicity of the look.

& as luck would have it, i found myself casually walking through the Nordstrom that happens to be a quick walk across the parking lot of my office when i spotted the next best thing(s).

Exhibit A:  Maria Sharapova for Cole Haan

Exhibit B: Enzo Angiolini

& while i may not look half as stunning as G while shimmying around in a pair,

i believe one of these contenders will gladly fill the gap in my closet that is eagerly calling for a sparkly summer sandal!

daily outfit: the “i dress like a 16 year old?" edition.

confession: sometimes, i like to watch shows that air on ABCfamily (oh, hey Pretty Little Liars!).

this week,

i found myself quietly saying to myself “i have that top!” “i have that bracelet” “i want her hair!” while watching Secret Life of an American Teenager.

if this is wrong, i don’t want to be right.

here’s the thing.

when it comes to summer tops, (i.e. today’s top),

i like to shop at places like the Junior’s department at Nordstrom.

& apparently,

so does the stylist of ABCfamily shows about teenagers engaging in scandalous behavior!

want a Matta NY scarf look-a-like for way less?!?

this afternoon, i discovered a very similar, Matta-inspired, silk gauze, colored just right for spring, ballsy (ha!) scarf in this month’s Nordstrom catalog.

designed by La Fiorentina & only $58….it sounds like you need one (or two!).

(available in peach, white, beige, & purple)

daily outfit: the “yesterday was for whipping out a winter romper (!!!)" edition.

This coming spring, one of my favorite people from the good ole high school show choir days (circa 2000-02) is getting married down in Florida.

Unfortunately, I will not be attending the wedding;

However, her beautiful bridal luncheon/shower was in Indy this weekend!

I had been looking forward to seeing her pretty face, catching up with mutual friends, & eating perfectly decorated cupcakes for weeks & weeks…

but also, I was quite excited for the inaugural wearing of my winter romper!

small things, right?

right…

& this get-up was down-right simple dressing if i do say so myself.

  • Milly romper
  • Frye boots
  • Glass beaded necklace from Nordys

throw on a Gap jacket from 2002 & i was out the door.

daily outfit: the “new headband, new day” edition.

last night, around 8 p.m., i found myself in the middle of Nordstrom returning a pair of boots i so wanted to keep.

soon enough, one thing led to another & the next thing i knew, a pile of new hair accessories had formed by my side.

the whole experience could have been deterred by the loud-spoken yet friendly employee who seemed urged to share her quite boisterous opinions along the way,

but, all was forgotten as i left the building with a few pops of color quickly added to the drawer of accessory gold.

this morning, i tested out my k-state purple pride bow with my going to church ensemble.

i think it’ll do. especially paired with the following items:

Hi! I'm Brooke. Indianapolis is my home & I welcome you to my little nook. I'm a twenty-something girl who was born in the land of corn (Okl.), attended undergrad in the true Sea of Red (Neb.), & eventually found her way back home again after picking up a couple letters behind her name (Kan.) while clinging to an adorable Maltipoo named Bentley.
