daily outfit: the “black & red" edition.

i was watching Snooki & JWOWW last night when JWOWW declared, “my favorites colors are black & pink.”

& while i never really considered black to be one of my person faves, i realized that i do like the combo of black & [insert any bright hue here].

who knew i’d agree with a “Jersey girl” on something other than the love of a good time…well, & a love for pizza… & a love of beer… & a love for Italian men?

  • Juicy Couture zip up (yup, still reppin’ JC)
  • JCrew buffalo check button down
  • Gap skinny cords
  • Frye moto boots
  • 2nd day hair.

daily outfit: the “you look more relaxed today" edition.
that’s what i was told by a co-worker-
that i look more relaxed today.
she was referring to my choice of clothing, not my attitude,
but if i’m being honest, my attitude feels more relaxed today, too.
it’s a good feeling-i’m definitely not complaining.
& if the outfit looks more relaxed, in a way good,
then i’m quite okay with that, as well!

daily outfit: the “texture love" edition.
i’ve never been shy to mix bright colors &/or textures when it comes to an outfit.
yesterday’s work-wear was no exception to that behavior.
here’s how i mixed it:
Tall Brown Frye Leather boots
Chunky Knit over-the-knew Hue socks
Anthropologie fleece-lined leggings
Burgundy & Creme Juicy Couture check-out-those-shoulders Tunic (an impulse purchase justified by Jessica almost two years ago! Thank you for that encouragement!)
Michael Stars infinity gray thick scarf
Wispy ballerina-styled bun
Chanel tortoise framed glasses.
put it all together,
& you’ve got an outfit within my comfort zone.

daily outfit: the “new headband, new day” edition.

last night, around 8 p.m., i found myself in the middle of Nordstrom returning a pair of boots i so wanted to keep.

soon enough, one thing led to another & the next thing i knew, a pile of new hair accessories had formed by my side.

the whole experience could have been deterred by the loud-spoken yet friendly employee who seemed urged to share her quite boisterous opinions along the way,

but, all was forgotten as i left the building with a few pops of color quickly added to the drawer of accessory gold.

this morning, i tested out my k-state purple pride bow with my going to church ensemble.

i think it’ll do. especially paired with the following items:

monday confession.

in my defense, i had been helping out with some greatest common factor math problems, & kind of escaped into her closet…just to peek around… math or fashion? math or fashion? math or fashion? …& i think this was my reward?

B: Oh My Gosh, this is so precious! Do you wear this alot?

Girl: No, not really.

B: You don’t wear it in the fall & winter with black tights & boots & a cute little top?

Girl: No, not really.

B: Why not? It’d look real good with those hipster boots you own.

Girl: I’m not really into all those fancy things.

B: *dumbfounded* oh, but it’s in your closet…next to the Juicy Couture collection…

Girl: Do you want it? You can have it.

B: *sizing it up to my clearly no longer a small child waist* No, that’s ok…

Girl: you can have it, really. i wore it once & it was super uncomfortable.

B: *moving on* …what about this J.Crew CrewCuts one?*

*for the record: i didn’t take either skirt. i may love clothes, but even i draw the line when it comes to taking designer duds from a small child who doesn’t understand the value of such beautiful, expensive goods.

daily outfit: the “what i wore to a baby shower" edition.
i was more than excited to get dressed up to celebrate a soon-to-be baby girl.
"apple of her mama’s eye" was the theme of the shower. just perfect for a fall afternoon.

there were pink ribbon tied carmel apples to take home,
guess the baby’s soon-to-be name using the first letters of the word APPLE (i went with Apple (duh.), Piper, & Lisa Turtle…somehow, I think she’ll look elsewhere for naming advice!),
crunchy apple for eating,
homemade apple pie for sampling,
& even sweet cinnamonized apple cider for drinking.

as we went around the room introducing ourselves by the role we will soon play in the baby’s life, women were saying things like, “i’ll be her aunt," or "i’ll be her 2nd cousin,” or “i’ll be her nana"….i proudly staked my claim on: "i’ll be the baby’s personal stylist." —because let’s get real, i wish someone would have told me what to wear when i was in middle school…now i know that wearing boxer shorts & tall white socks to school was definitely not the best decision for my social/dating life.

daily outfit: the “what i wore to open Christmas presents from Santa (aka b.r. and mama j)" edition

Hi! I'm Brooke. Indianapolis is my home & I welcome you to my little nook. I'm a twenty-something girl who was born in the land of corn (Okl.), attended undergrad in the true Sea of Red (Neb.), & eventually found her way back home again after picking up a couple letters behind her name (Kan.) while clinging to an adorable Maltipoo named Bentley. Thank you for stopping by & please feel free to leave a comment (or ask a question) under the "Be Kind" tab at the top... xo, B
