daily outfit: the “back in work clothes" edition.

this is the first time i’ve been grilled-cheese scent free since August 1st.

there’s no doubt the state fair has taken over my month, but the good news is, every bit of it has been fun— even the scent of grease that has somehow lingered back to the office.

slipping into something besides jeans and a t-shirt feels really good.

(clean hair & dirt-free clothes also feels really good)

life’s all about the simple pleasures and today, i’m just thankful some of them include detergent, soap & fresh air.

daily outfit: the “Bro #1 is another year older" edition.

Saturday night, the whole fam dam headed out to Fleming’s for dinner. We had one goal in mind, celebrate my oldest brother— & celebrate we did. With a feast big enough to rival that of Thanksgiving, we ate, drank & were very merry.

With each birthday in the S household comes a celebratory meal, and our dinner on Saturday night really hit the spot.

Plus, I whipped out this dress from last summer & the design still makes my heart flutter. Can’t go wrong with a pretty simple print.

daily outfit: the “Summer Saturday" edition.

nothing says summer quite like dinner followed by a stroll to snag ice cream.

which is why, on saturday night, we did just that.

dinner at Meridian followed by ice cream at Graeter’s.

yum yum yum.

thank goodness for the generosity of a peplum top.

June 23rd, 2014

someone once said that if you rely on faith 24/7, it shouldn’t be a big deal to take an hour out of your 24, one day a week, to show up at church.

well, clearly, said person was not me.

i love my church, i do, but sometimes, Sunday mornings are for sleeping in & or snuggling, & i feel like my faith shouldn’t be in question because of it.

however, i will admit that when i do feel an urge to go, i may or may not opt for polka dots & pockets to make it happen.

& on Sunday morning, that little luxury from Anthropologie was worth it.

daily outfit: the “last wear for LC" edition.

the first (& last) time i wore this dress, i was laid off.

today, i decided to give it one more go before parting ways.

i purchased it after spotting a few pretty celebrities wearing it out & about, & for the most part i like it, but not enough to overshadow the bad memories.

daily outfit: the “90 degrees is too hot for pants" edition.

this week finally feels like summer which means this week is officially too hot for trousers.

nothing warms my heart more than my dress collection, but given my new goal to clean things up a bit, i may be saying goodbye to this “lady in red” piece sooner rather than later.

daily outfit: the “mixed texture" edition.

two nights ago i decided to purge my closet. ‘tis the season for closet clean out, right?

in my effort to donate a good portion of my clothes, i’ve decided this will be the week i wear certain items for the last time— this geometric top being one of those items.

it feels good to clean-up & clean out…now, if only someone will tell me when to stop.

daily outfit: the “i’m not 21 anymore" edition.

i was out until 1 am last night and it became quite apparent at 6:25 this morning that i am no longer 21 years old.

however, in between popping headache meds & guzzling water, i somehow managed to pull together some pieces that i’m choosing to believe make me look very wide awake.

you can’t go wrong with a neon necklace & a good pair of wedges, right?

daily outfit: the “is peplum still a thing?" edition.

today is for catching up on ignored emails, beautifying an invitation for a future FUTP 60 festival & drinking enough coffee that my eyelids stay up.

the whether is gloomy but the day is gonna be great because regardless of the peplum trend being 2000 late, this top is comfortable & my shoes are cork.

those two factors alone will carry me through.

(well, that & i’m getting my hair cut tonight. it’s time for some cleain’ up to occur.)

daily outfit: the “Mother’s Day" edition.

yesterday we celebrated Mama J.

we were up & at ‘em for the 8 o’clock church service.

we picked up coffee, we drove through the beautiful Meridian Hills, we read the Sunday news & soaked up a little Vitamin D while steaks grilled nearby.

six of us came together to eat a delicious meal & we raised our glasses to the woman of the house— the cheerleader who supports each & every endeavor.

every year that passes, the time spent celebrating my parents becomes more significant.

some personal events that took place over the last year showcased the love she has for me & i am well aware that one day of reciprocating that adoration will never be enough.

we love you, Mama. i hope you never doubt that. xx
