daily outfit: the “purple poncho” edition.

a few weeks ago, Mama & i stopped at the outlets down in Edinburgh en route to Louisville.

always one willing to add some spring color to an otherwise neutral look, i slipped on this ralph lauren lavender poncho & kind of didn’t hate it.

i sent a text to Ashley who confirmed it would be a good option for a rainy day,

& turns out, rain is indeed in today’s forecast.

never the less, after a month having passed since the original procurement, i still don’t hate it, & in fact, with all black, i kind of love it.

daily outfit: the “still sweater dress weather" edition.

deciding to wear a sweater dress was the only appropriate thought that crossed my mind when i heard the weather man announce the 18 degree temperature outside.

at least it’s sunny?

daily outfit: the “too good to throw out" edition.

i realize this Tucker for Target dress is pushing the 5 years of possession mark, but the pattern keeps me holding on.

i’m not sure how long is too long before it’s time to part ways with a print, but for now, i’m leaving this one in my closet.

daily outfit: the “still feels like fall" edition.

even though it was high 60s earlier in the week, today feels very much like fall.

given my affinity for layers, i will never complain about the fall-like temps, but i wouldn’t mind some more sunshine on my shoulders.

until then, day dreams of my pending florida vacation remain constant.

daily outfit: the “bootcut" edition.

gotta love a good bootcut.

gotta really love a good, long bootcut (oh hi, i’m tall).

today might be casual friday, but my new blues sure feel fancy.

daily outfit: the “old stand by" edition.

i picked up this dress/tunic from H&M about 2 years ago, and as far as quality goes, i’m impressed.

granted, this piece isn’t always in my monthly rotation, i’ve worn it a handful of times & am pretty pleased.

daily outfit: the “Robin Hood" edition.

within two minutes of arriving in the office, my lovely co-worker said i was dressed like Robin Hood.

compliments may not be her strong suit, but i appreciate the reference.

happy thursday, i’m off to listen to some Bryan Adam’s “All for Love.”

daily outfit: the “Happy Valentine’s Day" edition.

there aren’t too many pieces of clothing in my closet that are deemed “appropriate for Valentine’s day” — i mean besides my pink panther-inspired everything.

however, this lip-smacked sweater definitely fits the bill.

so, why not?

i hope you’re having a lovely day & are dressed for the day, as well….if you’re into that sort of thing*.

*i’m the daughter of a very creative teacher who has always dressed for holidays. as much as i sometimes attempt to deny that festive gene, it still manages to creep up. i should probably stop fighting it.

February 6th, 2014

daily outfit: the “i promise this isn’t a nightgown" edition.

though it may feel like otherwise, this flannel shirt dress is not considered to be pajamas.

today’s one of those days when phone calls will be made, emails will be sent, & much will be accomplished.

these are the days i am thankful i can wear comfortable layers, tall boots & big glasses.

hello, thursday.

daily outfit: the “dressed up Lulu" edition.

tonight’s forecast calls for another 7-12” of snow, & while it sounds like i’ll be hibernating in the very near future, apparently my mind thinks that means right now.

i wanted nothing more this morning than to wear my more comfortable get-up to the office.

thank goodness, i kind of did.

thanks to Lululemon, a cashmere drapey vest, stretchy skinnies & my go-to Edelmans, this is about as comfortable as “business casual” can get.
